Back to the Seven Years War.

After an enjoyable interlude painting Orinoco Miniatures its time to wade back into the lead mountain awaiting enrolment into Frederick the Great's army.
The next unit on the list is IR41, my first crack at a fusilier regiment.

Another Foundry Miniature sculpted by Mark Copplestone if memory serves. More of these to come soon & then its on to Hungarian infantry for a change of pace.

Final Half Dozen Orinoco Miniatures

It was far too hot to be out chainsawing yesterday afternoon, so after an early morning ( 6am) start doing just that I retired to the cool confines of our kitchen to paint miniatures instead. Here is the result:

These figures are from the firing & loading pack & barring the command pack have been the most enjoyable to paint out of the four. This may be because of the variety of poses or just simply that they represent another small project completed & ready to game with.
Next up will be more SYW Prussians but South America will be re-visited once Orinoco have their Spanish in Brin uniforms available.

More Cacadores Britanicos.

Yet another week has passed where my responsibilities as an employer have encroached into time which ought to be spent recharging the batteries. I did however pull a late-nighter Saturday and finished off some more Orinoco Miniatures British. I now have four full bases finished for Fire & Fury.

In the interests of comparison here is a photo of a base of Orinoco Miniatures with a base each of Victrix & Perry Miniatures flanking them to give an impression of relative height & build.

The Peruvians ( blue uniforms) are Perry with Victrix heads; whilst the Gran Colombians ( red uniforms, yellow facings are pedigree Victrix, these if anything are a gnats too-dah taller than the others  but overall they all mix together very nicely.

Orinoco Miniatures British Legion Command.

A revoltingly cold & wet summers day in Blighty allowed me to press on with painting some more figures:

Still got one more ensign to complete, but as he will be carrying a Gran Colombian flag he shouldn't take long to finish. Painting the Union Flag is not a job you can rush.

Orinoco Miniatures Colonel Thomas Ferrier.

I may be doing both the sculptor & the late Col. Ferrier a grave injustice in interpreting the miniature below as his likeness, but he does fit the bill rather nicely:

Orinoco Miniatures Progress.

Much as I would like to I'm not exactly breaking records in getting the Cazadores Britanicos off the painting table. In my defence though I am working 12 hours a day and then doing paperwork after dinner for an hour or two. Here though is the first completed company base, there is another 3 parts done which hopefully I'll get completed tonight & the command base cleaned up & ready to go.

Orinoco Miniatures 28mm Cazadores Britanicos +++SCOOP+++

I was fortunate enough to receive a parcel from Orinoco Miniatures yesterday containing the first four packs of their nascent range of 28mm miniatures for the South American Wars of Liberation, a period which I have previously delved into through the agency of converted plastic miniatures.

In a rush of justifiable enthusiasm ( hoorah!, no more converting of trousers etc with green stuff) I put brush to pewter yesterday evening and painted up the first member of this estimable corps of men.

Right, down to the nitty gritty. These miniatures match up well in size & stature to Victrix & Perry ( the only direct comparisons I can offer at present) though the rendering of the detail & anatomy is closer to Perry Miniatures in its execution.
The castings themselves are very clean with only a bare minimum of mould lines visible & no defects in any of the four packs received.
Each pack contains six different castings which I won't show here as they are very ably displayed on Orinoco Miniatures own website ( which I would post a link to if I knew how).
A really good start to a range of miniatures which should bring this adjunct to the Napoleonic Wars the recognition & popularity it deserves.
