Relaxing with the paint brush has once again taken a backseat these last weeks but I continue to plod stoically on with the SYW project:
Thats the von Kleist Uhlans done. Sources are a bit confused over some details so I've stuck to Knotel for the most part, though by rights the musician should sport a tricorn not a fez & turban. Couldn't be arsed to make the head swap also suitable donor figure not available. May retro fit at some point in the future though.
The first stand of Prussian line infantry for IR18, uncertain how technicolour the rose pink facings should be but they will stand out. I had some pre-conceived idea, no doubt originating in my youth, that Prussian infantry all sported red facings & white small clothes, but this turns out to be far from the truth. Indeed it is hard to pin down anything remotely typical about Prussian uniforms other than the ubiquitous dark blue, this is very good news indeed from a painting perspective.
An occasional journal chronicling my ongoing forays into the world of roleplaying games, boardgames & tabletop wargames and my continuing lack of success in either of the last two; this is where the lament bit comes in.

Austrian Saxe Gotha Dragoons.
As a change of pace from painting the walking shrubbery that is von Kleists Freikorps I spent some time tidying up some of my old Crusader Miniatures Austrians:
Nice sculpts these, probably the best of Crusaders SYW cavalry. I have some of the Austrian Hussars too & they look like they've been tucking into too many pies.

Uhlans.
After a good wetting at work yesterday I turned my back on paperwork yesterday evening & made some progress with "Freikorps von Kleist" instead. Eventually this will turn into a Seven Years War project but at the moment its heavily focused on a certain green obsessed gentleman, perhaps he had delusions of a command in the Russian Army!
Not sure how much action these chaps would have seen during the SYW but on the tabletop they should form a useful strike force what with those 'orrible pointy sticks rules designers seem to love.

A Cavalcade of Riff-Raff.
Having neglected my blog updates for a couple of weeks due to work commitments I have finally managed to photograph the recent progress made on the Seven Years War project.
Von Kleist Uhlans should be painted & based by the end of this week & then I've a battalion of Prussian line infantry to start work on, probably IR 13 or IR26. I'll do both eventually as their grenadier companies were habitually combined together. After that I'll be in the market for more miniatures providing the finances are up to it.
